Ki-Hyun Do Ph.d
Ki-Hyun Do has been captivated by traditional martial arts from a young age, dedicating his life to practicing and researching these arts.
Since 1982, he has learned Taekyun from Song Duk-ki (1893-1987), the first Human Cultural Asset of Taekyun.
From 1998, he studied breathing techniques and meridian manipulation under Jung Sook (1933-2022), President of the Yangsaeng Association.
Since 2001, he has been learning Sword Dance (Geommu) from Kim Yong (1933- ), a Human Cultural Asset.
In 2002, he encountered Hopaesool, a traditional Korean martial art, and has since completed its systematic study through continuous research.
Ki-Hyun Do majored in Physical Education at Yonsei University, earned a Master’s degree in Physical Education from Indiana University, and received a Ph.D. in Sports and Leisure Studies from Yonsei University.
Currently, he is the President of the Korea Traditional Taekyun Association and an adjunct professor at Yonsei University.
He also lectures on traditional culture and martial arts at various universities, institutions, and corporations, while striving to promote Korean traditional martial arts worldwide.
